Uhuru elevates Eugene Wamalwa to cabinet

Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta has named Eugene Wamalwa the new Cabinet Secretary in the newly formed ministry of water and irrigation services.
Wamalwa, who has been for long mooted as a candidate for a place in the cabinet following his support for the ruling Jubilee coalition in the 2013 General Election has finally been rewarded for his support in changes announced Friday by State House.
In other changes General Samson Mwathethe has been appointed the new Chief of Defence Forces as Gen Michael Karangi retires.
The president further nominated Ambassador Monica Juma Secretary to the cabinet; where she will replace Francis Kimemia.
He has also nominated Immigration boss Maj-Gen (Rtd) Gordon Kihalangwa the new PS Interior, to replace Dr Juma.
Lt-Gen Joseph Kasaon has been appointed as the new Vice Chief of Defence Forces and Lt-Gen Leonard M Ngondi as the new Kenya Army commander.
Safaricom corporate affairs boss Nzioka Waita has also been appointed Secretary of Delivery in the Executive Office of the President.
