Nairobi - The CORD coalition has blasted the speech made by President Uhuru Kenyatta during Mashujaa Day, saying that it was embarrassing and lacking in focus.
Speaking Wednesday during a presser at his Capitol Hill offices, CORD leader Raila Odinga summed up the speech in one word.
" Kenyans woke up to celebrate a day of national importance only for the President to turn it into a farce and comment on issues that do not help Kenyans."
" Where was the talk on corruption? Where was the talk on teachers pay? Where was the talk on the economic crisis? All we saw was a lecture on the ICC. Where is the Jubilee priority lying?," he stated.
During his speech, Uhuru lambasted the ICC for allegedly calling on Kenyans to stop prayer rallies seeking to have prayers for Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Arap Sang.
He said that Kenyans believe in prayer and that it was their right to seek divine intervention in the cases.
