Kampala - Authorities in Uganda have said that Ugandans are being trafficked to Asian and Arabic countries through Kenya.
It added on that it has established that Indians are also being trafficked through Uganda to South Africa.
According to the Uganda police officer in charge of anti- human trafficking department, Moses Binoga, they have received information that many Ugandans are trafficked through Kenya.
He however said some of those who promise them jobs and transport them through Kenya abandon them in Kenya after extorting money from them.
Binoga said: ''I advice Ugandans to be careful with people who tell them that they are taking them for jobs in Arab countries through Kenya. We have received many cases of Ugandans being abandoned in Kenya with no money to even bring them back to Uganda.''
In a related development, 101 Indians have been abandoned in a hotel in Kampala by a fellow Indian who transported them from India claiming he was taking them for work in South Africa.
The deputy chief in the anti trafficking department, Agnes Igoe said: "101 Indians were abandoned in Tipon hotel by a man they identified as Joye Sharma. We have arrested his wife as we contimue hunting for him.''
The Indians said they each paid 5 000 US dollars to be taken in South Africa.
