Ubantu festival returns
08 June 2015, 16:21
Nairobi - The Ubantu festival is back once again with their latest installation dubbed the “Arts and Crafts Edition.” The last event, which was at the Enashipai Resort in Naivasha, was a memorable experience despite the low turnout.
It brought to the stage South Africa’s very own Bucie backed up by some of the biggest Kenyan dance DJ’s. The events organizers seem to have learnt from the experience, bringing the event to the UhuruGradens here in Nairobi.
According to a post on social media by the events organizers, “Africa’s art & craft scene reflects the continent’s rich cultural diversity. You’ll find skilled craftsmen and women working everywhere, from the pavements and vibrant markets of Africa’s big cities, to remote rural villages.
Ubantu Festival will showcase examples of traditional and more recent African art & craft. Ubantu Festival will promote cultural exchange and understanding through the arts & crafts and a wonderful opportunity for you to buy unique African gifts to take back home.”
Arts and crafts displays and events lined up for the day include African Print & Fashion, Animation & Film, Books & Literature, Jewelry, Paintings, Performing Arts, Photography, Pottery, Sculptures and Weaving. Tickets are going for KES 1500 (Inclusive of KES 250 Ubantu Gift Voucher) for the regular and KES 4000 (Inclusive of KES .1000 Ubantu Gift Voucher) for platinum.
