Kericho - Two people died on the spot following an accident that involved a motorbike and a petrol tanker in Kericho.
The lorry driver is said to have attempted to overtake another vehicle at a bend and hit the oncoming motorbike at Tagabi area along the Kericho Litein highway.
The motorbike rider and his female client died on the spot while a six-year-old girl sustained minor injuries.
Confirming the incident, area traffic boss Morris Okul said the lorry driver has been arrested and will be arraigned in court once investigations are over.
Okul is now calling on drivers to be extra careful and further noted that police officers on the county roads are alert and whoever is found violating the traffic rules will be prosecuted.
“I am calling on drivers to avoid over-speeding and adhere to traffic rules. Our officers are alert and any one who will be found flouting the traffic rules will be prosecuted,” said the traffic boss.
The child is recuperating at the Kericho District hospital and is in a stable condition.
