Two notorious criminals shot dead in Kisauni

27 May 2014, 14:32 Harrison Mbungu

Kisauni - Police in Kisauni district, Mombasa County on Tuesday shot dead two people said to be behind a spate of criminal activities within the district.

According to the area deputy police Chief Walter Opondo, the two were shot during a confrontation with police who had raided their house in Kisauni Tuesday morning.

Opondo said after the police ordered them to surrender, they pulled out a pistol threatening to shoot them.

“They defied police orders and instead drew a toy pistol prompting officers to gun them down,” said Opondo.

However, police removed the bodies from the scene of incidence and took them to the Coast General hospital Mortuary as investigations start.

Kisauni district, which is listed among the hotspots of insecurity threats in Mombasa County, has recorded a series on insecurity cases among them terror threats as well as drugs and substance abuse among the youth.

Cases of people being terrorized in broad daylight in Kisauni are on the rise with the most recently being the hijacking of a Matatu that was ferrying passengers to Mombasa town from Bamburi. The passengers, including a Nation Media Group's journalist, were robbed off their belongings.
