Kericho - Two people are being held by police in Kericho after they were nabbed trafficking bhang worth KES 10 million.
It is alleged that the two were ferrying the substance from Kisumu to Nairobi through the Koru – Londiani route.
Confirming the incident, the Kericho County Police Commander, Rose Muchuma said officers at Koru were alarmed by the high speed of the vehicles the two were driving.
“Officers at the Koru roadblock became suspicious of the two after they defied an order to stop. A chase ensued and the officers managed to arrest the two drivers while their other two accomplices managed to escape,” she said.
According to Muchuma, the two were arrested in Londiani. Police are still trailing the two who escaped.
The commander urged police to be alert at all time and further called on the public to closely work with security agencies in a bid to curb illegal trade and other vices in the region.
“I urge all officers to ensure the law is adhered to at all times,” urged Muchuma.
