Two people suspected to have raped two under age girls and disappeared, are being sought by police and children department in Malindi Kilifi county.

According to Malindi district Children's department Managing Director Naomi Kazungu together with Malindi district children legal officer Peggy Nyambura, a Pastor and a primary school teacher are suspected to have raped the duo before they disappeared.

“These two people are still at large since we started looking for them. They are responsible for raping the two children,” they told journalists in Malindi.

Kazungu said medical check up already indicated that the two minors were expectant adding that they were taking care of the children at Malindi children center where they are also being counseled.

She said although their efforts to trace the two have not been successful, they were sure that the two would be arrested and taken to court for defiling the two minors.

Meanwhile Nyambura said there has been increase in cases of children sexual harassment in the district in 2012.

She said about 400 cases of children's sexual harassment have been reported each month this year compared to 150 last year.

“There is an increase in sexual harassment cases and we are very concerned because last year only 150 cases were being reported per month but now they have shot up to 400 this year since January,” she said.

Nyambura added that mostly girls are being sexually harassed aged between 14 and 17 years in the area.
