Two people were Sunday evening lynched by irate members of the public at Lusanjela Village in Nangwe Location, Bungoma County, for allegedly practicing witchcraft.
The old man who is a famed witchdoctor in the area was subjected to mob justice at 5pm on Sunday together with his accomplice, a neighbors’ wife.
Residents who spoke to the media but sought anonymity said the woman was busted in Khalaba area with witchcraft paraphernalia.
When the angry residents cornered her, she revealed that she was in the trade with the witchdoctor.
They frog matched her to the witchdoctor’s residence where they ransacked his house.
According to an eyewitness, a handwritten 'hit-list' of people who were supposed to be eliminated was found in the house.
More shocking, the list comprised two names which had been marked with a tick at the end, belonging to the witchdoctor’s grandson who passed away recently and his son who passed away sometime back.
This made the angry mob resolve that he had a hand in the untimely deaths of his kin.
Area Chief Michael Khaemba confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Mzee Francis Walela and Getrude Mulwoni.
The Chief urged members of the public not to take the law into their hands.
