Bungoma - Two people were killed and four others seriously injured in a grisly road accident that happened along Mumias-Bungoma road.

The accident which involved two personal cars happened at Khabukoshe market.

An eye witness said the driver of one of the cars driving carelessly and at a high speed making it hard for other vehicles to overtake him, causing accident.

“The car was being driven at a high speed in the middle of the road thus making," said Ibrahim Salim.

The injured were rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital in Mumias by a well-wisher as the wreckage was towed to Mumias Police Station.

Confirming the accident, Mumias OCPD Farah Mohammed said one of those who were injured was still in comma and three others were in a stable condition.

“The accident happened when two private cars collided at Khabukoshe. Investigations are still underway to establish the exact cause of the accident," said Farah.

He warned motorists against over speeding and reckless driving as it has been the major cause of accidents.

“I want to urge and warn drivers against careless driving and over speeding as they risk their lives and that of other road users. Each road user should be careful always to reduce accidents," he said.

Mumias- Bungoma road has recorded increased road accidents in the past few weeks as police attribute them to irresponsible driving and lack of experience by drivers.
