Kisumu - Two inmates at the Kodiaga GK prison in Kisumu have been slapped with a total of 60 years in jail after a Nyando court found them guilty of sodomising teenagers under police custody.
Maurice Juma Okello and Francis Omondi Otong’ will serve 30 years imprisonment each after they were charged with defilement and found guilty of having sexually abused the underage boys Contrary to the Sexual Offenses Act No. 3 of 2006.
The charge sheet before Nyando Resident Magistrate, Patrick Wechuli stated that on the night of May 5 and 6, 2014 at unknown time in Ahero police cells, Juma and Omondi sodomised the underage boys.
They also faced an alternative charge of indecent act Contrary to Section 7 of the Sexual Offenses Act No. 3 of 2006.
Eyewitnesses from Kodiaga GK Prison admitted before the court that although they saw what transpired, they could not shout out or divulge what happened for fear of victimisation by the hardcore inmates.
The court was also informed by the Prosecution led by J. L. Muchiri that the duo are well known for such sexual offenses acts for which they have other pending cases related to sodomy.
Both convicts have the right to appeal within 14 days, Magistrate Wechuli declared in his ruling.
