Nakuru - Two armed thugs were Thursday morning shot dead after they unsuccessfully tried to carjack a vehicle that was ferrying Nakuru OCPD, Bernard Kioko from his home to the office.
The two had tried to carjack a private car along the Nakuru-Nyahururu road early Thursday morning, little did they know that the car was carrying the OCPD at that time.
Speaking to the press Thursday at his office, Kioko said his driver was forced to open fire on the carjackers after they threatened to shoot him.

“They had tried to stop the car but my driver resisted and that is when they threatened to shoot at us not knowing that we were police officers. When the driver saw we were in danger, he opened fire and neutralized the two who were armed with an AK47 rifle,” narrated Kioko.
Kioko added that the two are among a notorious ring that is associated with numerous carjackings along the Nakuru –Nyahuru road and the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
“The two are among leaders of a ring which is harassing motorists along the highway especially at night and we are going to continue hunting for the rest until we get them,” he said.
The bodies of the two were moved to the Nakuru County mortuary.
