Two dead, 17 injured in Bomet road accident

Bomet - Two people died and 17 others sustained injuries following an accident that involved a lorry and a bus at Longisa along Bomet – Narok highway on Monday morning.
The drivers of the two vehicles died on the spot, in the 5.00am accident.
Bomet base commander Daniel Kametta said the bus was headed to Bomet from Narok when it collided head on with the oncoming lorry.
According to Kametta, 17 out of the 45 passengers aboard the bus sustained minor injuries and were treated at the Longisa district hospital before being discharged.
The traffic boss said investigations have been launched to establish the cause of the accident and further called on motorists to adhere to be extra careful in order to avoid more loss of lives through road carnage.
“The Bomet – Narok highway has numerous pot holes and I would like to appeal to drivers to be extra careful as they drive on the road in order to more avoid loss of lives during this festive season,” said Kametta.
Two casualties who sustained serious injuries are receiving treatment at the Tenwek Mission Hospital while the drivers bodies were moved to the Kapkatet hospital mortuary.
