Two charged for being in possession of KDF sweaters

Nyeri - Two men were Thursday charged for being in possession of two Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) jungle-sweaters.
Eric Munene and Samson Wambugu, who had pleaded guilty to the charges, were charged that on March 8, 2014 at Kamakwa area in the suburb of Nyeri town, were found wearing the KDF sweaters which were believed to be have been obtained unlawfully.
However, Chief magistrate Wilbrodah Juma changed their pleas of guilty after the two in their mitigation, claimed that they bought the sweaters in a local market and that they were not aware that the sweaters were government property.
The prosecutor, Stanselous Mwangi who produced the sweaters in court as exhibit, said the two were arrested at a local bar by administration police officers.
They were released on a bond of KES 150 000 each, with sureties of the same amount.
The case was set to be heard on March 20, 2014.
