Tuskys workers on go-slow over poor pay
19 December 2013, 12:28
Nairobi - Tuskys Supermarket workers countrywide have gone on a go-slow demanding better pay.
The workers' go-slow has led to the closure of the supermarkets' 50 branches, with some engraved with the go-slow banners on their entrance.
The workers are demanding a 10 % pay increment and for their employer to fully implement an agreement addressing employees' welfare.
The go-slow has left shoppers, especially in Nairobi, stranded as they helplessly stare at banners that read,"No 10%, No Work. No General Overtime, No Work. No Victimization, No Intimidation."
The workers further allege that Tuskys management wants to buy Ukwala Supermarket yet their salaries are dismal.
"5O Tuskys branches but, you want to buy Ukwala @ 50% yet workers' sweat is not considered: No victimization, no intimidation," read one banner.
The workers have vowed not to report to work until their demands are met.
