Transition Authority blamed for derailing projects

A county ward representative in Nyeri on Thursday blamed the Transition Authority officers for derailing the implementation of development projects in his ward.
Peter Mbogo Kiragu, the Rware ward representative said the authority is derailing rehabilitation of a road crossing from Nyeri town to the Provincial General Hospital, which is currently impassable due to floods and deep potholes.
He said transition authority officers toured the area last week and assured locals that the road would be repaired, a task which has not yet began.
Addressing a group of more than 40 PSV drivers who demonstrated over the poor condition of the road, Mbogo said the delay has political links.
The drivers said the path is now in a more deplorable condition even after presenting their grievances to Municipal council who referred them to the Ministry of works.
The County Representative said there has been censure - game between the council and the Ministry, with each saying it is not their responsibility.
However, the drivers went ahead to plant some banana plants to express fury over the road saying it is more of a farm than a public road.
“Last year, a grader was brought here but it did very shoddy work making the route even worse,” said one of the drivers.
