Traders to go on strike over high market dues

Traders in Nyeri town are now threatening to go on strike over high market dues charged by the municipal council. The traders are accusing the council of exploiting them since there relocation to newly built Kamkunji market which was officially opened by President Kibaki three months ago.
One has to pay KES 1200 in order to acquire a space in the new market in addition one has to pay at least KES 1000 every month. This has made the selling in the market expensive to the business fraternity using the market who are majorly small scale business people since they have to dig dip into their profits to pay this charges.
They are threatening to go on streets if the situation is not rectified as soon as possible.
