A group of traders from Gatitu area in the outskirts of Nyeri town have complained over the increasing cases of insecurity in the trading centre after several incidences of shop lifting.
Last week thugs invaded an M - Pesa shop and left with unknown amount of money and goods.
The goons reportedly demolished the shop and made way with phones and other accessories.
Barely a week before the incident, some other shops were broken into at night and it was alleged that the thugs used master keys to access some of the shops.
Elsewhere, a man drowned after he fell in sewerage at Kangemi in Nyeri town after he was involved in a road accident.
Confirming the incident, area police boss Kirunya Limbitu said Samuel Wanjau Gachuri, 26, was driving his personal car along the area when he lost control and veered off the road plunging into the sewer.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital.
Kirunya said the deceased was not a qualified driver.
He was retrieved from the sewerage drain by members of public.
