A staff of Othaya Town Council shocked many people in the area on Madaraka day when he threw himself in the flooding Thuti River.The staff popularly known as Muhoro had been working at the council for several years bid his colleague goodbye at the banks of the river before jumping into the river where he drowned and died.The middle – aged man was said to have been angered by a family member and had concluded that he had no otherwise but to commit suicide.Shocked Othaya residents milled at the shore of the river on Friday. Members of the public and area DC David Koskei arrived at the scene immediately and started searching for the body.Police later launched operations until the body was found a kilometer away and retrieved. It was later taken to a local hospital mortuary.
