Time is a scarce organisational resource which needs careful and proper utilisation for an individual or organisation to push forward.
This is in line with the saying that goes time is money. Therefore managers must at all times budget their time so that they can perform their daily tasks while still ensuring that they have some time left for future strategic plans. There are many different methods open to different organisations that can be employed to manage time
Time budgeting: in order to get the best use of time,it must be budgeted. Budgeting begins by determining how much time is available for tackling allocated tasks.Task accomplishment procedure may include,dividing the total work to projects and units,examining the projects in terms of units and ascertain the level of importance,deciding how much time is likely to be spent on each project,assigning work priorities and blocking time one will need to for the tasks Daily planner:this refers to a chat that allows individuals to plan daily activities in order of importance.It aids in listing specific activities and items for daily accomplishment.using a daily planner realistic deadline should be a key aspect of consideration
Time log:This refers to a chart which allows an individual to keep track on time spent on various activities undertaken each day.time log daily review open up to the manager whether time is effectively spend for planned tasks Time management is faced with several barriers that are addressed as potential ways of wasting time or time wasters. These include: ~chatting too much during working hours on personal matters ~long held groups or committee meetings held by managers ~too many interruptions during working hours due to unplanned visits by clients and phone calls ~disorganisation due to poor management ~there are also cases when individuals postpone or delay in starting tasks due to lack of confidence or totally not knowing where to start or proceed. ~poor employee motivation leading to go slows and other uncouth work habits amongst other factors just name afew. There are many options available to saving time as the organisations exist.
Some of the approaches may include:
-set specific,realstic and achievable deadlines with time targets to meet the task -Be self motivated,being a key ingredient in accomplishing tasks within given period
-planning your work all times and examining the possible which time might have been wasted
-avoiding abseentism and postponement of task during official working hour
-be a reflective thinker and finnally ascertain what you want to accomplish each day. Prioritise by taking important goals first In conclusion,it is imperative that managers consider time as a major asset and invest wisely in managing their personal time.
They must concentrate on what is important recognise time constraints,minimise disruptions and get infomartion quickly. This will aid in creating time to perform all managerial tasks effectively.
