Thugs gun down a woman - Meru

Three armed gangsters last night shot dead a Meru High school teacher as she was driving home from work at Karumanthi village within Makutano area, of Imenti North District of the Meru County.
Imenti North Deputy OCPD Joseph Cheruiyot who confirmed the incident told media in Meru today that Eunice Wothaya Kariuki was driving alone at around 8.30.p.m. when the thugs who were trailing her in a vehicle they had stolen earlier stopped her.
He said the deceased refused to stop and the thugs shot her through the head from the back of the car and she died on the spot.
Cheruiyot said the gangsters did not steal anything from her.
He said Police were called in by neighbors who removed her body to the Meru level Five hospital awaiting postmortem examination results.
He said Police have launched investigations into the incident with the aim of apprehending the gang which earlier on carjacked a vehicle, Toyota RAV 4 KBR 633L at the Makutano area following which they put the car owner in the boot of the car and drove him to the Runogone area.
The Deputy OCPD said they stole the car owner’s ATM cars, and then dumped the owner at Runogone area of the Meru County and drove off with his car.
He said the vehicle was used to trail the High school teacher whom they shot dead.
He said Police recovered the car at the old Meru Maua road where it had been abandoned by the thugs who are at large.
