Nyahururu - Three men have narrowly escaped death when the helicopter they were flying in developed a mechanical problem and crash landed at Karuga trading centre in Laikipia County.
The helicopter, 5Y-HCC owned by Helicopter Charter (EA) Ltd, experienced difficulties as it made attempts to land at the designated spot.
According to area District Administration Police Commander, Daniel Masaba, the pilot was trying to land when the helicopter propeller developed problems forcing it to crash land.
However, the passengers who were nationals of Netherlands, sustained minor injuries and were rushed to Nyahururu’s Charity Medical Centre.

They were later airlifted to Nairobi for further medical attention as security officers kept guard over the wreckage.
“The foreigners were heading to the home of the late Paul Githinji Mundati, a former colleague who died on July 5, to lay a wreath on his grave,” said Masaba.
Their host, a brother to the deceased was waiting for the visitors at the designated landing spot when the unfortunate incident took place.
