Nakuru - Three robbers were on Monday night shot dead by police after a botched robbery at Mbaruk trading center along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
While confirming the incident, Nakuru OCPD Bernard Kioko said that the three suspects were part of a five-man gang that was ambushed by police as they erected a road block using stones at 10.00pm in an attempt to rob motorists.
“We received information about the thugs and that’s when we went there just as they were about to raid the trading center,” said the OCPD.
He further confirmed that police have been trailing the thugs for days after a lorry was carjacked at the same spot and its crew attacked where they sustained cuts and are currently undergoing treatment at the Nakuru Provincial general hospital.
The OCPD said that police managed to shoot the two and recovered an AK 47 rifle loaded with one round of ammunition, a toy pistol and two jungle jackets in the Monday night's ambush.
He said police have launched a man hunt for the three others who escaped adding that they will not relent in the war against crime in Nakuru.
