A gang of seven armed thugs yesterday night raided three business premises at Gikumene location in the outskirts of Meru town and robbed off traders unknown amount of money.
Confirming the incident the area police chief James Kithuka said the seven gangsters who were armed with G3 riffle stormed two bars and a shop and managed to escape after robbing several people at gun point before police responded to the distress call.
"The thugs managed to escape in a G-Touring vehicle and when the Police arrived at the scene used cartridge which resembles a G-3 riffle were recovered no arrest has been made but the seven suspects are still at large," said Kithuka.
Kithuka said the gang went to Matumbo bar within Meru Town and robbed a waiter of Shs 20,000, 3 boxes of Kenya Kane spirit, a DVD, a mobile phone and a senator keg pump.
He said during the incident a waiter Esbon Mugambi was injured on the head with a blunt object nd was rushed by police to Meru Level- 5 Hospitals where he was treated and discharged.
The gang then proceeded to a shop nearby where they stole a TV set , a woofer, a DVD,2 mobile phones and Shs 11,000 in cash besides robbing 3 customers of their shoes, mobile phones and hard cash.
