Nairobi - The celebration after killing Garissa University College students by the attackers was sickening, a survivor has recalled.
The attackers celebrated wildly when they shot and killed confused students who had been awoken by the sound of gunfire early that Thursday morning.
The attackers laughed hard as they called out students to meet their death, says survivor Joseph Rotich.
He recalls them saying that God is great and that Kenyans would suffer for their activity in Somalia.
" They were very happy to kill. It was nothing short of a shock to hear them laughing as hard as they were," he said.
" They told students to repeat their call to ask president Uhuru Kenyatta to pull the Kenya Defence Forces out of Somalia and then all I heard was gunshots and screams," he remembers.
Rotich survived sure death by jumping off an open balcony two floors down then jumping over a fence and onto safety and thanks God for the gift of life.
" I just thank God. There are many others who did not survive and I did. I am thankful and pray for the families of the victims," he adds.
148 people died in the Garissa attack, with 142 of them being students.
So far, 6 people are in custody for helping commandeer the attacks, many of them being Kenyans.
