Nairobi - The CORD coalition will hold rallies to protest the alleged harassment of Senate Minority leader Moses Wetang'ula who faces the prospect of losing his seat because of voter bribery.
Wetangula faces the prospect of losing his seat after the Senate published a notice seeking action by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision IEBC over an previous voter bribery charge.
The Bungoma Senator had been found guilty by the High Court of voter bribery and if the IEBC moves to punish him, they will strike him out of the voter register as required by law.
If they do so, then Wetangula will lose his seat as any elected official is required to be a voter.
CORD leaders though, say that they will cause hell on earth if Wetangula is stroked off the list.
" We will not have it go like that. It will be hell on earth if Jubilee decides to move with the plan," Tongaren MP Simiyu Eseli told News24.
He said that there was no way Wetangula would be discriminated especially as he had already paid his dues in the past by going fr a by election which he won.
" This is pure politics. He would have been punished long ago if need be. Why now?" Eseli added.
The statement comes a few days after CORD leader Raila Odinga said he would not allow Wetangula be targeted by the Jubilee coalition.
