Kampala - A man who had been taken to a police station over theft shocked the police officers who were interrogating him when he stole one of their phones.
Abdul Odong was arrested and taken to Kirinya police station in the outskirts of Kampala for stealing two bicycles.
The police officer on duty then, Florence Magoba who handled the case, said that as she was recording the statement, she realized that her phone had gone missing.
''I was shocked to find that my phone that I had just used a few minutes ago had all of a sudden disappeared. I looked around but could not get it,'' Magoba said.
She then requested one of her colleagues to dial her number.
''To our surprise, the phone rang from Odong's underwear. I really do not know how he picked and hid it there,'' she said.
She noted that there were four police officers on the desk and wondered how Odong stole the phone without their notice.
After finding the incident, Odong was charged with two counts of theft; one of the bicycles and another of the police woman's mobile phone.
