A total of 940 elderly people aged 65 years and above in Nyando and Muhoroni Districts in Kisumu County will benefit from KES 3.76million Government-funded Social Protection Program.
The program seeks to better the living conditions of the elderly people as they move into their twilight years.
Nyando District Gender and Social Development Officer Justus Tanui said each beneficiary will get KES 4 000 payable every two weeks.
Tanui said the payments will be done in the respective Post Offices in Nyando and Muhoroni Saturday.
He disclosed that out of the beneficiaries, 750 are from Nyando while 190 have been carefully selected from Muhoroni.
Tanui appealed to all beneficiaries to engage themselves in income generating activities while waiting for the next two months for another round of support.
He advised any elderly person who may face difficulties accessing the funds to liaise with his office for necessary assistance.
