A 35 year-old woman was arraigned in a Nanyuki law court yesterday for sending an annoying text message to a person through a Safaricom line.
Before chief magistrate Jessie Nyagah was Gladys Kabura Mwangi where he was charged for improper use of a licensed telecommunication system contrary to section 29 (a) of the Kenya Communication Act of 1998.
The court heard that on 2nd August 2012 at unknown place in Laikipia County by means of a licensed communication system namely Safaricom telephone number sent an offensive text message.
The message was read out to the court as “U A R SO STUPID. ARRGH. SO STUPID EEISH. KWENDA HUKO NYANG’AU WEWE. GHASIA TAKATAKA”.
The court further hear that the said message was sent to telephone number belonging to Paul Hammond with an intent of annoying him.
Kabura pleaded not guilty of the charge and was released on a cash bail of KES 10,000.
Nyaga fixed the ghearing date on November 23 and the mention on November 11.
