Nairobi - An alleged terrorist was arrested plotting to attack president Uhuru Kenyatta's Gatundu home.
The man, a Said Mire Siyad was arrested Tuesday while apparently surveying president Kenyatta's Gatundu compound in what prosecutors claim was an attack on the head of state's property.
The suspect was thus Wednesday arraigned before Resident Magistrate Edda Agade to answer to the charges of plotting a terrorist attack.
State Prosecutor Daniel Karuri told the court that police are yet to establish his motive, but believe he was on a surveillance mission for a terrorist attack and demanded time for the prosecution to question him.
Karuri also demanded 15 days to be able to investigate the matter further.
He also said that investigators need more time to extract call data from the
suspect’s mobile phone which might require them to travel to West
There was also the suggestion that the suspect was not working alone and police were looking to tail the others.
He was also accused of radicalizing youths.
The court ruled that he be held at the Kilimani Police Station until the 15 day period is over.
