Tension high after Baringo bandit raid

Baringo - Tension remained high at Chesiran village in Loruk, Baringo South sub-County after raiders left a woman with bullet wounds and drove off 400 goats after burning homesteads during the Sunday night attack.For the latest on national news, politics, sport, entertainment and more follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page!
Now area residents and those who stayed at Loruk trading centre are fleeing their homes for fear of another attack from the raiders.
One of the victims, Johana Chepyator, said the raiders were coming for his goats but when they did not get any they resorted to burning houses.
Member of Parliament (MP) for Baringo North, William Cheptumo who toured the area called on the government to act fast as the celebration of the festive season is due.

“From recent happenings, it is clear that the bandits are not after herds only as they killed and torched houses,” said the legislator, adding that the woman who sustained bullet injuries is being treated at the Kabarnet hospital.
He pleaded with the government to deploy enough security personnel in Baringo County to beef up security.
He at the same time called on the government to ensure that those who have born the brunt of such raids are compensated accordingly.
On his part, Saimo/Soi Member of County Assembly (MCA), Richard Kampala expressed disappointment with the police in Loruk saying even after being alerted of the raid, they did not respond.
