05 August 2014, 09:04 James Kabotia

Kirinyaga - A primary school teacher on Monday went berserk and beheaded his three-year-old son following a quarrel with his wife in Kirinyaga County.

According to police, the deceased had been left in the custody of his father who out of anger beheaded him and left his body in a pool of blood at their house at Karimaini village in Ndia Constituency.

According to Kirinyaga County police commander, Christine Mutua, the suspect had earlier quarreled with his wife for unknown reasons.

She said that his wife managed to flee leaving behind the boy, a move that incensed the father who resorted to hacking him to death.

Residents who responded to the boy's screams were shocked to find the his head chopped off and immediately apprehended the suspect.

The police boss revealed that the suspect is currently being held at Baricho Police Station and he may appear in court on Tuesday to answer to murder charges.

She revealed that CID officers have launched investigations into the case.

The police commander termed the incident as barbaric.

"I’m still in shock. Why kill your son after a fight with your wife?" he posed.
