Ten Ethiopian aliens remanded

Ten Ethiopian aliens were arraigned in a Nanyuki court on Monday for being in Kenya illegally.

Before Chief Magistrate Jesse Nyaga were Mohamush Muhasure, Mulatu Kadio, Teneka Defar, Zeneba Tamasige, Hambala Darsabo, Namus Shafi, Amani Sadio, Adiso Tadasa Mohamid Masin and Debaba Temir.

The accused persons were charged that on April 20 2013 at about 7:20AM at Timau road block in Meru County, they were found illegally present in Kenya, being Ethiopian nationals.

Nyaga directed that they be remanded at Timau police station until April 24 when they will take their pleas.

In the same court, a man accused for being in possession of firearms has been released on a cash bail of KES 50 000.

The first count stated that on the dates between March 30 and April 15 this year at Likii village in Laikipia County, Hassano Samon Isaak jointly with others not before court was found in possession of one AK47 rifle of serial number 22004309 without a firearm certificate.

The second count stated that at the same place and time, the accused was found in possession of 155 rounds of ammunition of 7.62mm special and 62 rounds of ammunition of 7.62mm without a firearm certificate.

Hassano Samon Isaak pleaded not guilty of the two counts.

Nyaga directed that he be released on a bond of KES 100 000 with one surety of similar amount or a cash bail of KES 50 000.

The case will be heard on June 18.
