Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Evanson Bett, the young boys aged between 15 and 17 admitted that on November 9, 2014 at Loldaiga Conservancy in Laikipia County they were caught with two legs of Eland Antelope meat weighing 30 kilograms.
They were arrested by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers who were patrolling the conservancy, according to the prosecution.
KWS officers escorted them to Nanyuki police station with the exhibit where the charges were preferred against them by the police.
The court however ordered for a report from the probation office and children’s department regarding the teens’ record and family.
The court put them on probation since they were first offenders but warned them against hunting wild animals and entering wildlife conservancies without permission.
