Teacher released on KES 100K cash bail for assulting student

Murang'a - A teacher at Gatanga Girls’ High School in Murang’a County has been charged with physical assault of a female student.
The teacher, Ruth Mwangi was arraigned before Thika Chief Magistrate Abdicator Lolot, where she was charged with the assault of the form one student on May 15, 2015.
She denied the charges and was released on a KES 100 000 cash bail pending the resumption of the case on July14.
The case comes after the school administration locked out parents of the said student outside the school gate after they stormed the institution to find out what had happened to their daughter.
The school principal only opened the gate and spoke to journalists who had camped outside after the Murang’a County Women MP, Ms Sabina Chege who also chairs the education committee of parliament, intervened.
