Teacher interdicted for sexually molesting pupils

Nyeri - A primary school teacher in Kirinyaga County has been interdicted over allegations of sexually molesting four standard eight pupils.
Education officials in the area while confirming the development said the teacher at Ngungu Primary School had earlier on been removed from the standard eight-class timetable and deployed in the lower classes.
County Director of Education, Elizabeth Karani said since the case was a disciplinary issue, it will be handled by Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
She said TSC as the employer was best placed to handle the case to ensure appropriate action is taken against the teacher.

The suspect was said to have been taking advantage of the juveniles early in the morning when they report for classes.
“The children were instructed to be in class by 6 am and this is when the said teacher was allegedly molesting them in turns in the Staff Room,” a furious parent to one of the girls said.
The parent wondered how the pupils could be able to read that early in classrooms that do not have electricity.
“To hear that a grown up person and a family man has been sexually molesting my daughter, I feel very enraged,” said the parent.
