Teacher commits suicide for not receiving September salary

Nyahururu - A primary school teacher in Nyandarua County has committed suicide for allegedly not receiving his September salary.
The body of Patrick Irungu, 38, a teacher at Kirera primary school was found hanging inside his house by a relative Wednesday morning under intriguing circumstances.
According to Irungu's father, Gathenya Irungu, the father of two had left for the bank Tuesday morning to check his September salary but he returned home upset after learning that it was yet to be deposited to his account.
“The following morning I called him several times but he was not answering. I got suspicious and went to his house only to find his lifeless body hanging on the roof,” said Gathenya.

Confirming the incident, Nyadarua North OCPD Morris Assila said: “Police received information concerning the incident following a scream heard from his kin.”
The Police boss said that police have launched investigations to ascertain the cause of the suicide.
He at the same time raised concern that murder and suicide cases have been on the increase in the area in the past few months.
The body is lying at Nyahururu District Hospital mortuary.
