Tanzania invites Uhuru for Magufuli inauguration, State House quiet
04 November 2015, 13:11
Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta has been invited to attend the inauguration ceremony of Tanzania's President elect John Magufuli but State House has yet to say whether he will attend it.
The Tanzanian government said Wednesday that Uhuru was among several heads of state from the region invited for the fete to be held Thursday in Dar es Salaam.
However, State House has yet to announce if the President will go, despite having been invited for the fete over the weekend.
There is still no surety that he will travel.
However, a source at State House said it was likely that the President will travel even though he was not sure.
" It is not yet clear if he will go. We are still waiting for directions," the source said.
Magufuli won the hotly contested Tanzanian elections last week with 58% of the total vote.
