Two fishermen died on Wednesday after their boat capsized due to heavy rains in the Lake Victoria in Suba District.
The two, identified as George Ochieng and Collins Osiaso were on a fishing mission at Uterere beach when their boat capsized at 1pm due to hostile weather.
Frantic efforts by the local fishermen and beach residents to save the duo, failed due to the heavy downpours pounding the area.
By Thursday morning, villagers and relatives were still camping at the site as the search for the missing fishermen continued.
The death toll from rain-related deaths currently pounding Southern Nyanza has hit ten in a period of one week.
Ten other victims died after they were swept away by raging floods in Nyaburu and Wiga villages in Gwassi, Suba District.
Other parts hit by the flash floods include; Ndhiwa where a bridge was swept away and Homabay and Rachuonyo North Districts where 5, 000 people have been rendered homeless after River Awach burst its bank.
