Nairobi - An attempt by renowned television anchor Jeff Koinange to stop his arrest has failed.
Koinange tried in vain Monday to have his arrest, ordered last week by a Nairobi magistrate be stopped at the High Court as he was deemed not to have followed valid court processes.
Through lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, Koinange was forced to wait till Wednesday when the matter will be heard.
High Court judge Weldon Korir directed Koinange to serve the
Attorney-General and the magistrate’s court with their application for
inter-partes hearing on Wednesday.
Magistrate Maisy Chesang last week issued a warrant of arrest
against the two for failing to appear in court to answer charges of
They are accused of discussing businessman
Jimi Wanjigi, Sani Mbui Wanjigi and their company, the Kwacha Group during Koinange’s Jeff Koinange Live Show JKL, this despite the court order
Koinange has been charged alongside Tony Gachoka, with whom they were together on the show.
Imanyara insisted that his client was not served with a notice to stop the discussion and that thus, the arrest warrant was erroneous.
The JKL show airs on the Kenya Television Network station KTN.
