TSC warned against intimidating striking teachers

03 September 2015, 08:09 Steven Njugunah

Nyahururu - School heads and principals allied to KUPPET in Laikipia County have been urged to ignore a message from TSC County Director to fill attendance forms for teachers who report to work.

Speaking when he led the teachers to the home of their departed colleague, Charles Nderitu in Nyahururu town, KUPPET Laikipia branch executive secretary, Ndung'u Wangenye termed the directive an intimidation by the TSC and urged the school heads not to fill the forms.

“This is one way of intimidating us but we will not be cowed. We want all teachers to boycott work until our demands are met,” he noted.

The KUPPET official castigated the government for failing to comply with the Supreme Court's pay rise order.

At least six schools in Laikipia County were closed down Wednesday and students sent home as the teachers stayed away for the third day.

Among the schools News24 learnt had been closed were GG Kinamba secondary school, Karandi and Gatero Day secondary schools among others.

Students from the said schools were seen roaming along the Kinamba-Nyahururu road during the day.
