Nairobi - The National Alliance TNA is confident of beating arch-rivals Orange Democratic Movement ODM to the soon to be vacant parliamentary seat in Kajiado following Joseph Nkaissery's move to the cabinet.
Nkaissery will officially resign as MP for Kajiado Central after being sworn in as Cabinet Secretary for Interior.
And thus the battlefront has turned to his to be vacant seat in Kajiado, which has already started generating interest from various quarters.
Of all Kajiado constituencies, only Central is under ODM, a fact that TNA wants to see change.
Secretary General George Onyango Oloo says that the party will go all out to ensure that the whole region is under the banner of the national government.
" This is our frontier and we want to ensure that we complete it by taking the Kajiado Central constituency too," he said of the impending vacancy.
ODM is still unsure of who to field for the election even though the feeling is that TNA has an early advantage and goodwill considering the president has chosen on of theirs as a Cabinet Secretary.
" The will of the people is to support the government and that will come to pass. We are overly confident about this seat, Onyango added.
As for a potential candidate for the seat, the party says it will find a suitable person in a clear and democratic way.
" We will ensure that we find the right candidate and in the right manner," he added.
Nkaissery has said that he is still a member of ODM, despite heading to the cabinet and it waits to be seen if the electorate will support his party during the by elections.
