Bungoma - Police in Busia are holding two suspects who have been going round alleging that they have an old German stove which is said to be made of gold and valued at KES 3 million.
County CID Chief, Joseph Teben said that acting on a tip-off, police mounted operations and managed to arrest the duo and recovered the said stove that is actually a copper-coated item which looks like a kettle, and not a golden stove.
He added that his officers have been getting information that people are going round selling the item.
Teben called upon members of the public to come out if they have fallen victims to such characters and record statements with the officers so that the suspects can be taken to court to face the full force of the law.
“I urge members of the public within Busia County who have fallen victims to come out and continue giving us information; so far we have been cooperating well with the locals,” he said.
He further urged warned criminals within Busia that their days are numbered saying that their chances of escaping are very low.
The two will appear in court Monday to face their charges.
