Bungoma - A middle-aged man suspected of practicing witchcraft survived death by a whisker after irate residents found him slaughtering a sheep at night in the fresh grave of a man who hanged himself two weeks ago.
The irate residents of Chesamisi in Kamukuywa Ward, Kimilili constituency frogmarched the suspect to his home where they torched his three houses but he was lucky to have been rescued by police officers from a neighbouring police station.
A neighbour who asked for anonymity said that the suspect has always acted strangely and they could not understand why he chose to slaughter a sheep at night on the fresh grave.

"A passerby saw the stranger on the grave and alerted neighbours who got him in the act. He tried to flee but was caught and frogmarched to his home. Police officers came in good time to rescue him," said the neighbour.
Area MCA, Moses Opicho condemned the act and called on residents to stop destroying people's properties and instead arrest the culprit and hand them over to police for the law to follow its course.
