Suspected pusher nabbed with bhang

Police officers in Nyando District arrested a suspected drug trafficker and recovered bhang worth about KES18 000.
Area OCPD Elias Gitonga disclosed that the suspect, Fredrick Juma Obuya, 43, was intercepted with 188 rolls of bhang and a further 77sticks of the same while transporting them in a gunny bag.
Gitonga said that following a tip off from members of the public, Police officers with the help of area Assistant Chief ambushed the drug dealer at 10pm Tuesday night at Maembeni Estate near Ahero Girls Secondary School.
He said the suspect was expected to be arraigned in court either Wednesday or Thursday if investigations are completed.
Following the incident, Gitonga commended members of the public for taking their security role seriously.
He said that it was only through such collaboration that crime rate would effectively be reduced to manageable level.
The drug haul comes hot on the heels of President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive for the County Commissioners, Chiefs and Police officers to crackdown on such dealers alongside those selling Chang’aa and other illicit brews.
