Migori - A police officer succumbed to injuries he sustained after he was stabbed by a criminal suspect he had gone to arrest in Migori.
The assailant was also killed by an angry mob in Isebania town, Kuria West Sub-County.
The officer, attached to Isebania Police post died while undergoing treatment at Migori level five hospital where he was rushed immediately after the incident by his colleagues.
According to Kuria West Sub County OCPD Paul Kiogora, the officer had gone to arrest the man for stabbing another man and seriously injuring him last week.
“Instead of surrendering himself to the officer, the man described as a dangerous criminal, pounced on the officer stabbing him severally on the chest and stomach, “said Kiogora
The two bodies are now lying at the Migori level four hospital’s mortuary awaiting post mortem.
Kiogora said police have launched investigations into the incident to establish exactly what led to the two deaths.
He however warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, saying those who killed the officer’s assailant should have left the law to take its own course.
