Migori - Police have arrested six people in connection with the death of an Administration Police officer at Total Estate in Migori County Sunday night.
Constable Kemboi Komolikat was on routine patrol along the busy Migori highway when he met his death.
According to the area sub-county Administration Police commander Simon Magero, a taxi driver is one of the suspected murderers.
Magero said the slain officer, who was alone at the time of the attack, had been called to assist in arresting a suspect.
The man he had gone to apprehend stabbed him with a knife immediately he stepped out of the car to call colleagues to help him escort the suspect to the police station, killing him on the spot.
“The police officer was called by two people of Somali origin to help them arrest a man who failed to hand them a money laundering machine they had paid for,” said Magero.
Magero identified the arrested suspects as Alex Onyango (taxi driver), Abdullahi Omar Abdi and Elias Makhati, saying the killer escaped.
Others are the killer’s son, Eric Ouma Peter and his two wives; Moline Atieno and Lydia Nyaboke.
They are being held at Migori police station awaiting investigations and prosecution.
