Suspect escapes after committing murder

29 May 2012, 16:06Kelvin Murithi

Police officers in Imenti North District have launched a man-hunt for a suspect who escaped after assaulting murdering a 28 year old man at Thimangiri location over undisclosed misunderstanding.

Area OCPD James Kithuka said the suspect whose name was only given as Kimathi stabbed the deceased Patrick Mutuma in the abdomen while the two were at a Slaughter house.

The deceased was rushed to Meru level-5 hospital where he was treated and discharged before going back home. "He was bed-ridden for two days before he later succumbed to the injuries," said Kithuka .

He said the deceased had informed his sister- in- law, Evelyne Kirimi that he was feeling unwell before he died at home.

He regretted the incident was reported to the police after the death noting that if it was reported on time they could have taken quick and appropriate action to arrest the suspect and ensure the deceased was properly treated in order to save his life.

“The suspect will be charged with murder once he is arrested. Investigations over the incident have been launched and I urge the residents to give us any information they have on the suspect to enable us arrest and charge him in court, “ said the OCPD.

He said the body was removed to the Meru Level-5 hospital for postmortem analysis and advised residents to use the right channels and resolve any outstanding differences instead of taking the law into their own hands
