Supreme Court rules Wambui returns as Othaya MP

Nairobi - The Supreme Court has ruled that Mary Wambui return as Othaya MP.
The decision was reached at after judges at the court ruled that the petition against her election which had earlier been granted was time barred and as a result ineffectual.
Wambui had been battled by competitor Peter Kingara in February who had argued at the Appeal Court that her election into office was full of malpractices.
But after taking her plea to the Supreme Court last week in a final bid to stall upcoming by-elections, Wambui has had the final say.
Her election had been rubber-stamped by the High Court sitting in Nyeri but the court of appeal ruled that the election was wrong adding that it was not in the interests of the public to have an illegally elected official in office.
