'Support me in 2017' Raila urges Luhya leaders

Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga has urged Luhya leaders to support him in the 2017 General Elections to help reverse the fortunes of a region neglected by the Jubilee government.
Raila hosted ODM's Western Kenya members of the National Assembly to round-table discussions at the Laico Regency, Nairobi Thursday where he urged them to help him ganner enough support to reverse the ills that the Jubilee government has spread in the country.
The leaders were drawn from Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia and Bungoma Counties numbering fifteen in total.
The leaders discussed issues pertinent to the socio-economic welfare of the region. They explored possible strategies to revive Pan Paper and avoid collapse at Mumias Sugar.
These two industries have for decades formed the financial backbone of the region and it was unanimously agreed that no efforts are to be spared in ensuring their survival.
" We need these industries revived to offer western Kenya residents hope for the future," he said.
Concerns were also raised regarding what appears to be a deliberate exclusion of the community in governance of national affairs by the Jubilee Administration with the former PM committing to agitate for their fair share in opportunities beginning with recruitment into the National Youth Service.
The members resolved to formalize the Western Kenya ODM Parliamentary Group to drive the agenda of the people of the Western Counties.
